I'd say it was interesting, experimental indie rock that uses electronics. It
isn't IDM by any manner of means, but that's not a compelling reason to slate
it. Although I can think of valid reasons to dislike it (matters of taste, as
always), I rather suspect a degree of
'if-the-indie-kids-like-it-we-can't-admit-to-it-being-good' elitism. (And if
anyone's thinking of flaming me on this, I'm sure that you fall into the
former category.)
Now for somehing else not quite IDM. Can anyone recommend bits of the genre
that seems to have become electroclash? Preferably the stylish but eclectic
electro / house end rather than the Gary Numan B-side with beefed up beats
variety. Compilations would be good, as I'd be interested to get a cross
section before spending big money.
