I've not posted to the list for some time now - mainly I've concentrating on
running my business, i2 digital media www.i2dm.co.uk .
It's occurred to me that I'd like to combine my interests and do an IDM
related website. We specialize in community sites and content-management.
Maybe a user-contributed review site would be nice, something like
www.discogs.com but with opinions on the music. Or I'd be open to any
suggestions of a void to be filled in this community.
Trouble is, we have to eat and it would be good to have some sort of
sponsorship. And the trouble with that is that many of the record labels and
artists I'd be interested in approaching are probably doing it more out of
love than anything else and may not make a huge amount of money. I was
wondering if there is anybody out there who runs a label or makes electronic
music who could give me some idea of the feasability of such a plan?
We're not (necessarily!) looking to get rich on this, just justify the time
spent in allowing ourselves to sit here and look after a website without
going out of business!
