I don't have the cd anymore so this is from memory, but I remember listening to the album and noticing there wasn't anything jazz-like about it. Obviously it's not constructed like jazz, but harmonically and especially melodically it wasn't "jazzy". The thought struck me that the whole sampling of jazz records angle was more just marketing.
