i listened to Funkaram/Solid States while snowboarding last weekend (my first and probably only time this year, unfortunately) on a beautiful sunny day and had a near religious experience. i realize folks on the list dig this album and all, but i think it deserves far more praise. imo it has it all. the dark, menacing, melancholy strings that still illicet beauty and hope. the cruncy, skittery beats that are at once abstract and truly thumping. AND... you will fall in love with these songs. they are more than 'sound pieces' these are 'tunes' and they rock. this album as a whole blows me away more with each listen. stark, dark, huge beauty. np: Tristeza/Mixed Signals... it's ok, hasn't blown me away yet.
