ah, but you forget that before their downtempo/carboot soul kinda stuff, they were one of the defining "bleep" acts -- which is to say, they actually represent a time when IDM and "dance music" weren't yet so separated. that's something i'd like to see a return to... but i guess trying to resurrect the feeling of that particular period is beside the point, given how impossible it would be in the current climate. i'm sorta surprised warp didn't get more traction with their "influences" release a year or two back. given that rave nostalgia is coming back (see recent piece on 'ardcore revival in the guardian), one wonders if they should try something in that vein again. phil
