Well, I guess the least cost-intensive solution would be getting a
region free DVD-Rom drive[1], but of course this requires that you have
a 400+ MHz PC or a newer Mac...

http://www.firmware.fr.st/ has got a looong list of drives that you
can make region free by simply flashing the drive's firmware with a
patched one, so take a good look at it before you buy...
