I am looking for the name of a CD, which i heard In a record store the other day. It was sparse, digitally droney, really good. I asked what it was and the guy working told me he thought it was the guy from Fatcat records, and that it was on Pthalo. Anyone know the name? Picked up some new music... Warp 10 + 1 comp. dunno why i never picked this up before, it's brings back so many amazing flashbacks to first going clubbing, pimpley and underage trying trying to get into Tin Pan Alley in glasgow! The Plez track, "Can't Stop" is on constant repeat. Sistol [ pthalo 15] Found this used for 5 bucks. Its really nice minimal driving tweaky techno. nice change from my more usual subdued purchases. Otto Von Schirach - Escalo Frio. [sch.020] Kinda relevant to the recent discussion of MCs on IDM. This features rhymes by some people, Mr Soundwave, Flamenco, Egypt, and Id-stoopid-fuck. Pretty cold sparse atmospherics, solid clunky beats, off-key bleeps, and nice lyrics floating over everything. Electric Birds - Strata Frames. erm, don't remember so much, as i had it on going to sleep, but it sounds amazingly nice. Bad purchase::: Tim Koch - Shorts in Alaska. Moments of it sound really nice and promising, but then it seem to lose itself in overly self indulgent 80s synths and drum breaks, just reminding me too much of Jan Hammer soundtracks to bad movies. Tonite in San Francisco - ::node at 'pow!' on 6th and mission. awesome dive bar, with really amazing anime artwork interior, huge manga paintings, video games, and strong beverages. My friend and i started tuesday evenings in here over a year ago, playing a mix of electronica and indie rock. It's more recently been taken over by friends, but we'll be returning for one last evening spinning tonite, as we both are moving out of town next week. Expect lots of Morr music, droney guitars, sparse f00ked up beats, lots of tigerbeat6, noise and glitchy madness. Tomorrow evening in San Francisco:: wed 21st november. 'Tired of Standing Still' a Highpoint Lowlife compilation CD release party at Kimo's on Polk Street. This is a record label, me and my friend started, and this is our first release, a double compilation of local indie rock and electronica artists. This evening will be quite a full on experimental electronica evening tho. Performing live:: Joshua Torres [temporary residence] The EP Sound [Omnibus] O.S.T. [pthalo, emanate, dial] starts at 9pm // $5 cheers, thor -- [thorsten@highpointlowlife.com ]# --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
