I've picked up a few in various used record stores in the last few years:
golden rain: balinese gamelan music & ketjak: the ramayana monkey chant
javanese court gamelan from the pura paku alaman, jogyakarta
the jasmine isle: javanese gamelan music
the famous ramayana monkey chant was actually the creation of Walter
Spies, who conceived of it as a tourist attraction (!). I know golden
rain has been released on CD; not sure about the other two. nonesuch
seems to be in & out of print unpredictably, but it's pretty easy to find
their releases used. quality is generally good in a dry, ethnographical
sort of way. all 3 LPs have nice pen & ink drawings or watercolor covers
& were released in the early 70s.
