Well I have a 4 point virtual surround system that runs from all my input devices (turtables, etc) through my mixer and into my computer, the rear speakers are mounted 5 feet off the floor these are satelites mostly for treble and mids and they don't kick much bass out so they're safe. Up front I have 2 speaker boxes with 15' woofers (as well as mids and horns) these are laying sideways on the floor to keep the bass low and the mids high. I realize this is about as bad a condion as you can have. Getting my woofers off the floor would help a lot. This is exactly the problem. If there was something out there that would lift my woofers say 2 inches off the floor and insulate them against the floor we'd have a great situation. The room itself would still be full of sound but the transfer of bass to the structure of the room would be reduced. Thus I could spin at a fuller volume without disturbing the rest of the world. -----Original Message----- From: EggyToast [mailto:youn0394@umn.edu] Sent: Wednesday, October 24, 2001 2:41 PM To: Conrad Seaman Subject: Re: [idm] Sound Insulation On 24 Oct 2001, Conrad Seaman doth wrote:

What's your current setup like? As in, physical location of speakers, what sort of speakers you have, and so on? A lot of this depends on what your setup is like. For instance, if you had a subwoofer on the floor, I'd say "take it off the floor." derek --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
