i like this thread idea...particularly because i'd compare most of the music
i listen to as having a sort of 'cold'ness to it...
anyway, i'd recommend:
snd-stdio-->sure, it's clicks and glitches, but there's also beautiful
harmonics and melodies to go along with them. a sort of fragile, hidden
beauty.
while-lock/even/haze-->while's music is probably the best thing i've heard
in a long time, moderately complex beats, dark/sad synthesizer lines, and
the occaisonal beatless tune as well. i used to drive around in my car
aimlessly to these last winter.
autechre-incunabula-->what can i say? it's a classic and has what i
consider sounds which could liken it to a winter soundtrack
peter benisch-soundtrack saga/waiting for snow-->this guy makes _the_ music
to coincide with the last/first few months of each year. sometimes minimal,
sometimes excessive, always moody, cold-sounding, and frigid.
aphex twin-i care because you do-->to me, it has a very ethereal feeling to
it, alot of the songs invoke images of gazing at frozen wastelands on far
away planets.
andre estermann-balloon-->much like aphex twin's ICBYD, except newer.
how's that?
rob.
