the first warp artists i heard were off of a compilation called 'Wasted -
The best of Volume' (i'm pretty sure. at work now, so i may have that title
backwards). anyway, that had some cabaret voltaire, orbital, bjork, massive
attack, etc. on there which i was really really into at the time, and it
just so happened that there was an autechre and an aphex twin track on
there. was sort of taken aback by it, and i let it go to the wayside with
everything else.
shortly thereafter, i was at a coffee shop with a couple of people and heard
the RDJ album...in particular, i was very amused by 'milkman'. my friend
jeff picked that release up a couple days later, and then i bought the 'come
to daddy' EP. that was my first warp purchase, and like just about everyone
else, i never looked back.
