My first experience with Warp was Tri Repetae(++). I bought it circa '96 when it came out. I was turned on to it by MTV of all sources (and American MTV at that). I saw the video for "Second Bad Vibel" late one night and was totally ripped apart by it. I didn't know what to think of it; it was a very bizarre moment for me because up to that point, the only electronic music I was familiar with was traditional electronic "dance" music. I bought the cd locally. I was surprised that I found it because I'm from a small town, and the more obscure artists usually never found their way to our shelves. I listened to the cd often, but I never really understood it until a year or two later. I think it takes a strong backbone in more of the A.I. type stuff before you begin to appreciate most of Autechre's more recent work. In the proceeding months I began to pay a lot of attention to ambient music. This found me gems like Amber and SAW2. From there I began to listen to a lot of AFX, Plaid, and the rest of the Warp roster, and then on to more obscure labels of the sort. And here I am. Anyways, Warp has put forth a legacy, and I believe this legacy has greatly influenced the way electronic music operates in the industry today. I have no doubt that remaining Warp heroes and heroines will continue this legacy full throttle. -char _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
