What I don't understand is how people, who obviously have or lust after many different types of gear, fail to realize that their hardware is as much a piece of technology as any computer. Computers used to use vacuum tubes, as well, but you don't see anyone trying to recreate that stuff :D Probably the only musical element available to humans that doesn't require technology is voice, and possibly some percussion. PLUS, the majority of new technology just makes old technology common. Anyone with ol' ReBirth and a little diligence can make pretty decent acid house, but that's because acid house is based upon the sounds, and it's been around for a while by now. It's like how 3 guys with a guitar, a bass, drums, and a 4 track can make punk. Punk isn't a novelty any more, but it sure was a big thing before it was labelled "punk." Now that tools like Reaktor are quite common, with much thanks to the "warez scene," even the relatively newer sounds of electronic music are available to many people, many of whom probably make horrible music, but, oh, here's an idea: maybe making music is a rather fun hobby that should be enjoyed by more people for a lower price?
