while it's true that NIN was influenced by SKINNY PUPPY, i think he's ripped
off COIL even more. try "horse rotorvator" (1986) and you'll see what i'm
talking about. also, while i admire S.P.("too dark park" was their zenith,
in my opinion) , they were heavily influenced by early CABARET VOLTAIRE.
pick up "red mecca" (1981) and "the voice of america" (1980).
