This is true, too - It's not at 1.0 yet, but it probably will be soon. IMHO, now is the time for programmers to start adding support for it to their software, and they are. After my earlier message to the list about Ogg, I went and asked some MP3-catalogue authors if they would add support for Ogg to their programs. The guy who made the program I use now (MPEG Audio Collection) said he was working on it, and another author (of "Deep's MP3 Base") said the next version of his program would include Ogg support. As for encoders/players, the next WinAmp will support Ogg (there's already a plugin thad adds support to the current version), and aside from the encoders on vorbis.com, there's a program called FreeRip (I think) that does Ogg.

Try out the RC2 encoder - definitely sounds better to my non-audiophile ears...

Shoutcast/Live365)? They talk about its stereaming capabilities/potential in the FAQ at vorbis.com - it's supposed to be streamable.

Definitely! Try it out - it sounds better at lower bitrates than MP3, and at the same bitrate, it's basically the same size.

I think many already are; if not, I don't see why they wouldn't, since it's free for them, and adds another "feature" that they can list and sell ;)

This, you'll have to ask them about. I have no idea. I don't even generally pay attention to this stuff, but Ogg impressed me today and I've been looking into it for that reason... -Adam __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
