I think they're embarrassing (to the author) and inexcusable. And, as the
author of more than a few such blunders, they testify to the sad reality of
most journalism: very little line editing and no fact checking exists to
correct the errors of the caffeinated and/or weeded freelancers writing
writing up their pieces at the 11th hour.
But as Homer Simpson says, "Let's not play the blame game!" ;)
