Or because of the way memes work... a lot of good stuff I've enjoyed this summer, ontheotherhand, has been getting overlooked because of all the releases by people like Funckarma and Autechre and SQP + ilk and upcoming (maybe) releases from AFX, etc. As to what I'm looking forward to, it mostly consists of a bunch of stuff that's been out on vinyl finally coming out on CD, e.g. the Accelera Deck CD. What I've been listening to, over and over, since the summer began and a little bit beforehand: 1. Ural 13 Diktators: Total Destruction (Forte) 2. Bisk: Moonstruck Parade (Sub Rosa) 3. Fennesz: Endless Summer (Mego) 4. Takkyu Ishino: Karaokejack (Ki/oon) 5. Electric Company: Slow Food (Planet µ) 6. V/A: House Of Distraction (Schematic) 7. V/A: Quatermass versus Rather Interesting (Quatermass) 8. Wagon Christ: Musipal (Ninja Tune) 9. Mouse On Mars: Idiology (Thrill Jockey) And last but certainly not least, the Jollymusic self-titled CD has been in heavy rotation since it came out (on Nature). Personally I think it's kind of sad that SQP, AE, AFX & BOC etc. get so much attention, since it's really just a matter of opinion, everybody here knows who they are and with few exceptions everybody here buys there new stuff as soon as it comes out whether it gets the thumbs up on this list or not. I just try to bring attention, when I review things, to the side of IDM/electronics that I don't see represented much here. Being the side with less glitches/abstruse modal melodies and more, well, vocoders and such. I'll be hitting Amoeba Records on my way to see the Tigerbeat6 show in Oakland this weekend, hopefully that'll be a frutiful stopover and I can tell you all about more stuff you possibly haven't found in the Used/Discount bins yet.
