yeah, on the whole, you're right. My girlfriend picked up a cd from some british troupe, kind of fatboy slimmish, called "the wiseguys." She, of course, listened to it on the way home after finding this, and I said "I never knew you were into hip-hop" (since some of the songs were very hip-hoppy, and one even sampled A Tribe Called Quest). She said "this isn't hip hop." I said "oh yes it is, just listen to that beat, and the scratching." She said "hip hop is about pimps and hoes." Indeed! We had the same conversation in 5 minutes that the entire list spent 2 days on. Sheesh! Most people don't give a rat's ass about music. We're "intelligent dance music" because we give a rat's ass about music. We erupt in arguments like this because talking about music you give a rat's ass about in an ignorant way to people who give a rat's ass about it and think about it is bound to cause controversy. It's like going to a pro-lifer and saying "it's just a baby, who cares" cheers, /derek ------- eggytoast.com ------- now on the interweb --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
