! I'm afraid whoever said some of my shit is poorly produced got it right. It is not that I don't care about the listener though. When I created the said tracks (I've got a fair idea of what ones your on about) I didn't have an audience in mind at all. I was just creating a few things to amuse myself on the atari. When it comes time to make an album, some of the "throwaway" (I hadn't thought much of them at the time of recording) tracks have the most emotional resonance. Re-recording them "correctly" is futile: it loses the feeling (totally). Also a lot of my equipment was total shit, I didn't have any outboard except for a delay pedal (no compresser or any dynamics, just the 4-track with it's trims for compression) but that's verging on an excuse. It's probably closer to the truth to say that my ears were concentrating on the vibe rather than the production. "The Fear" track is one which I can't even listen to now because it has those horrid clips in the vocal sample, but when I rerecorded it I lost that aforementioned vibe. So there U go. For a more accurate picture of where my production lies at the moment you can get my most recent 12": Rude Ass Tinker - Imperial Break/Silk Ties on Deathchant Records available from www.undergroundmusic.co.uk in UK and majesticstore.com in US among others.
