That's the ideal of good design. There was quite an interesting article in Sound on Sound last year about that, though it obviously had a bit of a mainstream slant. Search on 'sleeve design' or something at www.sound-on-sound.com. Now I want to look at (as well as listen to) all those albums you mentioned, my IDM collection is pretty small.
