Just got ahold of the first two releases on the
new Alien8 sublabel called Substractif. The releases
are the debut cd of Mitchell Akiyama called 'hope
that lines dont cross' and a reissue/retooling of
Tomas Jirku's 'immaterial' cd. Both releases are
very impressive - Akiyama's for his warm inviting
subtle testures and Jirku's for his sparse
experimental dubby atmospheres. Full review coming
in the next volume of Recoreviews but jsut wanted
to give an early 'thumbs up' for both releases.
The Substractif website seems to be under-
construction at the moment but for more info on
each artist you can check out their own websites
at:
http://www.intr-version.com/ and
http://www.yirku.com/
btw: Check out the hilarious mp3-only hip-hop
spoof album on tomas jirku's website that
features music by jirku and lyrics by/about
G.I. Joe characters.
