It seems that RePHLeX is starting to get some new music out. As you
might have noticed, the ``Braindance Coincidence'' compilation album
(CAT100) was released on 2001-04-02, featuring some of the highlights from
the RePHLeX past. Nothing spectacular about that one, except that the CD
has a consumer-friendly price. 2xLP/CD.
Railway Raver's ``You'll Never Get Anywhere By Spending All Day Playing
Around With That Bloody Drum Machine EP'' (CAT111) was released on
2001-04-23. I'm still waiting for my copy. 12"/CD.
Ovuca's ``Wasted Sunday'' (CAT110) was released on 2001-05-14. I
received it today and gave it a cursory listen - not bad at all. Not as
trippy and weird as Aleksi's previous outings - which is not a bad
thing. There are even some playable tracks. 2xLP/CD.
Peter Green's ``Macbeth: An Original Score'' will be out on 2001-05-29
(though Juno seems to have it already) - some might remember Green as a
collaborator with Mike Dred on their ``Virtual Farmer'' album on RePHLeX
as well as their ``Epnom Bynom EP'' on Machine Codes. I listened to a few
snippets and it is what you'd expect - electroacoustic/classical
weirdness. I can't wait to get my hands on the actual record. 12"/CD.
But what has happened to the official RePHLeX site? They've got the
above four releases on display on the front page, some information on
ordering RePHLeX Braindance T-shirts - but where is the discography?
Although the previous design of the site wasn't too much to look at, this
is ridiculous - why downgrade a great service like that and promote just
the most recent offerings? Bugger.
Cheers,
