no idea if someone's brought this up yet as i haven't been able to keep up with the digests lately, but biosphere's "substrata" was just reissued on touch records. the original came out domestically on thirsty ear a few years back, and still gets constant play on my stereo as one of the best ambient albums i've ever heard. maybe it's just the particular mood that this one evokes, i dunno - but it's right on the money for me. mainly wanted to give the list the heads-up in case any old-timers missed this one or there were newbies looking for a great ambient album. extra added bonus - the touch reissue comes as a double cd with new packaging - the second disc has two tracks included on the japanese release of "substrata" that i've never heard before and a seven-track score to dziga vertov's "man with a movie camera." apparently a film festival commissioned geir jennsen, aka biosphere to create a score based on vertov's original written instructions for musical accompaniment. i haven't listened to disc two yet, but the rerelease of substrata alone is enough to make this one worth your time... just tossing it out there, hope someone benefits from this one! - brock http://www.touch.demon.co.uk/substrata.html ===== Brock Phillips Motormouthmedia 2525 Hyperion Ave. #1 Los Angeles, CA 90027 fon 323.662.3865 fax 323.662.3844 email bmotor@pacbell.net __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
