As somebody already mentioned, this is not true. In fact, an
otolaryngologist recommended this very measure to me if no alternatives
were available. I mentioned the above rumor to him and he denied it,
saying "[the paper] is better than nothing". Of course, a bike helmet
will do you little good if a bomb is dropped on your head.
