Yeah, San Francisco is showing a lot of support to broken beat these days,
thanks largely to people like Tomas (who has two amazing monthlies alongside
Jonah Sharp & Ubiquity's Andrew Jervis) - I get the sense that we're a
little North American enclave for the stuff. I'd be interested in hearing
where else it's building to this degree.
As for newsgroups, I've found the acid jazz list (acid-jazz@ucsd.edu) is the
best resource for this kind of stuff. And, honestly, I'd be against launcing
a broken beat list, partially because by definition it eludes genre, and
partially because I'd be loathe to join yet another list...!
