i don't agree with that... i don't think for one second that his (Russell
Haswell's) set was a reaction to the crowd. my understanding is that he
always plays that way - ie, a bunch of hard/intense records mixed, well,
shall we say in a rather relaxed unconventional style.

i think you're spot-on there! it's like after Team Doyobi finished the
whole evening was designed to be as intense, mindblowing and extreme as
possible.

i really couldn't describe last night's set as 'dance' music. 'dance' isn't
just about tempo, it's about funk and a whole bunch of other things, but
funk especially, and last night didn't cut it for me on that level. mind,
more power to you if you feel different (as you evidently do!) and you were
able to dance to it. i just stood still, trying (and failing) to take it
all in.
