Music is..... music is....... music is......... any attempt to have a cohesive argument about what it is, is futile. Any time you attempt to trap it within some definition, it will just illustrate that you no longer know shit. Ever see Marcel Duchamp's art? Cold white porcelain urinal. You read about it... blah, blah blah, it broke through the typical patterns of art, it changed the tide... etc, etc. Then whenever someone attempts to trap it into a definition, put a big net over it and say, well... this is.....ART. And that over there is NOT. Immediately they are becoming that same initial mainstream oaf who failed miserably the first time and got recorded in history books as 'the mainstream' while the Marcel Duchamp is considered 'a pioneer'. And so on and on it goes... Music comes out, someone says: "This is NOT music... what is this shit... now that, that was music." It's just really funny how the pattern continues. I hope that in the future there is no need for computers... you can just hook up electrodes to someone's head and hear sound come out of the speakers. Then people can complain about how they are bored watching some guy sitting around and blinking to the rhythms. A few months ago, I heard someone talking about putting a microphone into a coffee cup and recording an ant crawling around. Dude.... i will never be bored with some insane auditory juxtopasitions out there.
