I'm going to ask you to listen to some music. I know that there are hordes of such things alive and fluttering on this backbone of fiber veins cascading with the pulse of electrons. Amazing what we have become. I'm going to ask you to listen to some music that happens to be my music, and I want to say its not out of some need to appease my ego or whatnot that i pose this little quandary. Day and night, and mostly night, I sit, my eyes basking in the harsh glow of the ray tube as I face a timeless question: "how do I compose music?" In the fourth dimension we see that all composers, regardless of means are the same. I'm going to ask you to listen to some music that happens to be my music, and happens to be the most important thing in the world to me. While that is so easy to say, and so hard to prove, exhibit A and exhibit B, resting right in front of me, my hands; tell me the story again. I work so hard at this, writing music, working jobs to get money, spending money on gear, and then on making cd's and shipping them out to anyone who asks for free, because I don't think commercialism and capitalism should enter the equation of whether what I do has any artistic value to you. If I had to live my life over again, I'd make the same mistakes; only sooner. I'm going to ask you to listen to some music that happens to be my music, that happens to be the most important thing in the world to me, that happens to be totally free, that happens to be totally honest, and at least a tiny bit original. I don't claim to be a genius, I don't even claim to be good at making music. As much as I want to deny it, I don't think that I, or my music is in any way special, and as far as I can see, I really don't know why you should care about it, and I can't really give you any reason too, except that, if I may; I think I have just a tiny bit to say. We never live; we are always in the expectation of living. So I'm not going to go on and on. By now you've (probably) already decided to skip the rest of this message, and I can't blame you. Anyway I've been meaning to ask you to listen to some music, "cause you know music really beats life." http://www.tuj.dyndns.org/music/ If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away. -Thoreau --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
