<<01. E.O.G - Solid liquid 02. Patrick Cowley - Primitive world 03. Pluton & Humanoids - World invasion 04. Giorgio Moroder - The Chase>> <snip> Yeah, I'm really glad somebody's doing this kind of thing ("paying dues" to the old school), it means a lot to me. If you know of any other old school electro mixes out there, let me know. Actually I just heard parts of that Andrea Parker 'DJ Kicks' mix today for the first time and I didn't know that was electro but apparently most of it is...some good older stuff on there (not the Andrea Parker I knew from 'Kiss my Arp'). Anyway, QUESTION: I've read (on Bentcrayon at least, probably elsewhere) that I-F has a track in Mixed Up 1. Just an error, I presume? Or else which one of those bad boys is I-F? Electronome would be my only guess, but that doesn't seem likely since I have I-F and Electronome side by side on other comps. (I'm aware that Bentcrayon did screw up another part of the tracklisting by attributing "Space is the Place" to Newcleus, not the Jonzun Crew, even though both groups have tracks by that title.) Actually, that Pluton & the Humanoids track sounds very much in the vein of the newer I-F. Before I saw the tracklisting I speculated that it was I-F. At any rate, it's a KILLER track. KILLER. As in I would MURDER to get it on vinyl (erm, hyperbole, yeah). If that was produced in the 80s (no apostrophe), I'm amazed at how well it anticipated some of today's new wave electro. So is Vol.2 out yet? I saw somebody posted a link about that awhile back but I don't know what happened to that and a cursory look online suggests it's still unavailable. If I were I-F, here's a few tracks I would put on Vol.2 (we'll have to see if I can call any of these): .NEWCLEUS -'Destination Earth (1999)' or 'Space is the Place' .EGYPTIAN LOVER -'Egypt, Egypt' (only the end) .THE EXTRA T'S (yes, they pluralize T with an apostrophe) -'Flash Boogie' .HERBIE HANCOCK -'Earth Beat' .KRAFTWERK -something else c.1980 by these guys, like 'Numbers' .WEST STREET MOB -'Ooh, Baby' .WORLD CLASS WRECKIN' CRU -'Juice' or 'Horney Computer' [sic] .More early techno a la Cybotron... .And you can never get too much Giorgio Moroder production (actually you can...Lord help me you can...) Of course if the listing is already out I'm just a lame-o. BTW, *ADULT* && @Bigwig && Chicago && Next Thursday && Be there or be square. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
