i do something very similar with my live set, except i don't use a computer and there is no song sequencing whatsoever. rather its a "mix-n-match" of different pattern-based loops that i sequence onboard on 3-6 pieces of gear. (quasimidi 309, sirius, korg e-series, sometimes i use an mmt8 to sequence virus and other synths) .. and i would really say, this is how ya do it! this is about as live as it gets barring hiring a band! so i definitely admire your idea for using fruityloops. but of course i'm more of the mindset that you shouldn't sequence _ANY_ song, instead just have a set of patterns that you want to play and then mix them live. have you considered that? gives a lot of freedom for spontaneity. other than that, my only concerns would be about the computer, ie: will there be lag? how simple is it to mute tracks? you should be able to mute a large number of tracks at once (i have mutes assigned to a keyboard so i can easily play "chords" to mute a number of tracks).. and other computer related things, like how fast are you with a mouse. oh and this is an important one! how many outputs do you have? are you planning on using any effects? just some things to think about. i would be curious to hear how this turns out though! oh and have you seen this software "live"? was debuted at NAMM, looks very cool for the live performance. -jonah --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
