Everyone... Thanks for all the advice and if you still have ideas, keep them coming. I'm definitely looking for tabletop players. I saw the new Denon 2100 and that rocked my world, but it's not tabletop. The Pioneer 500s have been recommended a few times in this regard and after looking online, I'm leaning this way. I was hoping to find a discussion group or forum on this stuff and though I did find a bit of useful information, what really sparked my interest was online PDF manuals for these puppies. It makes a difference to see the manual before buying...especially if you're shopping online. You get a different feel for the hardware this way. In any case, I just sold some stock and I have the funds to do this right...two 500s and a Pioneer CDM300 mixer ought to do the trick. But how about another question...any recommendations on places in SF where I can check these out firsthand? I found a place down on market and Chinatown was recommended...but looking through the phone book was a waste of time. Zebra Records, maybe? Where else can I find good DJ equipment in the city? ---brian ------------------------ Brian W. ProSound has a good package deal if you buy them with a Pioneer mixer and a coffin case, though it's not listed on their Web site (http://www.pssl.com/). They'll send you a free catalog if you ask. I believe most DJs stick with Denons, but I wanted to go the tabletop route. I was at fry's electronics over the weekend and saw a cheesy dual cd-player with mixer intended for aspiring DJs with the graphic design taste of a 12 year old...but it got me thinking. I'd like to learn how to mix and with my collection, CDs are definitely preferable to vinyl...any hardware recommendations on this tip? any magazines out there with especially good reviews or advertisements where I can get my eyes on some of these things?? DJ mag, of course...what else? ---brian --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
