Apologies for continuing this thread, but judging from the amount of
personal e-mail/four-letter words that have ended up in my lap since
yesterday, I suspect there are many of you out there who completely missed
the point of my message.
The problem I had with Josh's post is that, while sincere and
well-meaning, I found it to be patronizing. By trying to curb the
behavior of "many of the male members of this list" in order to "provide a
good reason for the women here to stick around," Josh inadvertently puts
women into a special, thin-skinned class that needs to be protected from
the marauding band of "sexist offensive pricks."
Well guess what? Sexism comes in different forms and flavors in our
society and the knight-in-shining-armor routine is an example of one of
the oldest and most insidious forms around. Hence, I ask all those in
high horse cavalcade formation to do a quick check to make sure you're on
the right side.

that had tangential relationship to the NY minimalists?
