You should definitely check out "Hymnen" by Stockhausen... that and "Gesang der Junglinge." When I stumbled across these as a music history student back in '78, they blew me away, completely reshaped my ideas about what music is and what it can be. At the time I was coming out of a highly traditional, "classical" music background, so the concepts were wildly new to me. Although I think of this album as the foundation of my collection, I play it only rarely. In part it's a preservation issue, but it's also because of how personal it is. There are things that you want to remember rather than repeat. But every time I listen to it, it is like making that discovery all over again. I know that's a lot of self indulgent sentimentalism, but hey, it works for me... Besides, if you're going to get sentimental about something, better Stockhausen then Styx... - Bob On Wed, 17 Jan 2001 13:09:29 -0500 Joseph Hyun <jhyun@concreteinc.com> writes:
