A week or so back I stumbled across a Peel Seamus 12" called 'Shifting
Gears', released a few months back. I was so surprised to see a Delsin
release in a store here in New Zealand that I decided to check it out and
it's really nice! The guy in the shop was really into it as well, coming
from the downbeat "jazzy" angle, rather than the bleepy one.
I was saying some less than positive stuff about deFocus the other day, and
I'm not sure why I find this a different kettle of fish, given it's a
similar kind of Detroit throwback sound, with massive loud synth strings
and and the rest, but it's got that crunchy hip-hop feel that BDP picked up
on better than some, and which I always liked in 69 tunes. I guess maybe
there is room for more of this lush Detroit influenced IDM stuff, having
got the impression there was no new turf to cover in this area.
What's other stuff on Delsin like? Is the upcoming '...Going Thru Life'
comp going to be out on CD as well?
Damn I spend too much cash on music! I guess that's the price you pay to be
part of the elite crowd of cool kids. Or is that "the elite crowd above the
cool kids"? ;-D
