you're both wrong. there's this wonderful little system that runs in a circle like a snake eating its own tail... it works something like this radio listeners hear a pearl jam song a hundred times on the radio ... it sucks less than all the other crap that's on so they get fooled into thinking it's good music, so they buy millions of dollars worth of pearl jam, and the record industry says "hey those pearl jam guys are onto something. we need the next pearl jam" so then you get creed and stone temple pilots, who sound a bit like pearl jam so the record labels pump money to the independent promoters to hype pearl jam with the radio stations by sending up starlets to give blowjobs to the program directors, who then play creed 1000 times a week until the poor listeners get brow-beaten into buying the new creed album, and it starts all over again but the fact remains that the kids listening to the radio would rather have their tastes dictated to them by the radio rather than going out and forming their own opinions by having them dictated by an internet mailing list. -- String Theory : Digital Music for Humans http://www.enteract.com/~yoshi/index.cgi On Tue, 9 Jan 2001, Jordan Hare wrote:
