You are right. Plextor's are indeed good - they are also on the list of "worth having" as seen in the Cd-R FAQ by Andy McFadden. That is indeed an excellent deal.
Also, I wouldn't recommend ripping audio or using a CDRW/CDR drive for normal usage. You are inflicting wear and tear on the precious drive. Get an Afreey drive which can rip flawless audio at 26x (clocked) - only 30$ Afreey makes one of the only lowcost drives that does high-speed DAE.
