Faves of mine in 2000, no particular order
Richard Kirk - Loopstatic - beautiful banging bleepy 4 on the floor and
breakbeat, cool samples too. sounds like it came straight out of
fasttracker
Surface 10 - vector fable - muted breaks and noisiness with a heavy
industrial feel, great samples on this too, lots of changes, never a
boring moment
Lowfish - Eliminator - don't like all the tracks but the ones I do...
simple, sweet yet grating melodies against 808
Electric Company - Exitos - talk about flow, this builds and ebbs between
minimal rhythms and catchy melodies, back and again
Metamatics and Clatterbox - project unison
Metamatics - Spook Tinsel Shoal
Neo Ouija comp - Cottage Industries - love all three of these, melodic,
melancholy, and dark, great beats
Cristian Vogel - Rescate 137 - this keeps growing on me, weird funky techno
Modula - Audio dismantle - just got this, but worth a mention... seriously
gritty low-fi electro, sounds like someone at Suction's evil twin :)
Boards of Canada - Music has the right... - track 2 is about the best thing
I heard all year, track 6 BOOMS! whoops? wrong album. Oh well, maybe next
year
