Personally I *like* buying blind most of the time. Of course, the longer
you've been buying/browsing the genre, the greater the perpiscuity anyway.
Also I tend to be of the opinion that the best stuff can't be assessed on
initial listening (or sometimes several) anyways - especially of this ilk.
Although music has several functions, that of 'paradigm stetching' is
something which is more likely to take place with IDM than in some other
categories - and that usually takes more than one spin around the block (for
me anyway).
