hey, he said the guy was a friend of his.
i missed most of friday night driving to nyc with friends (friends make
delays, remember this) but caught solenoid's. was very cool with the live
drumming on pads on top of stuff. was supposed to play myself (colongib) at
1:00 but then with the shutting down of the other venue they pushed me back
twice until it would be at 3:45 and driving from pittsburgh had taken it's
toll and friends and i were a bit tired, so i suggested to play at the pier
the next night, which was a possibility (didn't happen, but...). anyway sat
night was incredible. they had phthalocyanine play early (9:30), so
unfortunately not very many people were there yet. 100% fullon klanky rusty
distorted machines in a rusty distorted boat ;; apparently this boat was sunk
for a number of years and they pulled it up and made it useable and fire-safe
as a venue, so lovely colors of rust and exposed gears everywhere, beatiful
;; he even played his penguin mechanics track near the beginning. the sound
cut out many times during his set, was overloading the speakers, but it had a
good dramatic effect. about half stuff from his previous albums, half stuff
i've never heard before. powerful war. such a master of noise. freeform on
the pier also was full of his brilliantfunk, he played some new stuff and
mixed parts of known tracks from his most recent albums, he played some live
keyboard melodies on top, the audience had a rather poor attention span for
this it seemed as most left for jega in the boat. rest of night was also
nice, i mean some music was a bit boring, mike p's dj set was intense
hardcore rage with some jungle thrown in,, good for dancing but deathly on
the ears.
ok
