A lot of people were exposed to IDM through NIN's "Further Down the Spiral" disc which had a remix by aphex twin... <<can anyone name a few artists/albums that blur the lines between idm and industrial?>> Yes! My favorite kind of industrial... Haujobb-Solutions for a Small Planet Haujobb-Ninety-nine Forma Tadre-Navigator Numb-Language of Silence (Particularly track 6 "Closer") Gridlock-The Synthetic Form Gridlock-Further Gridlock-5.25 Dryft (side project of Gridlock)-Cell Pain Station-Cold Haujobb sound the most like straight IDM... While Gridlock really seems to be a perfect mix of industrial and IDM... Syncopated harsh rhythms, with BEAUTIFUL ambient pads in the background, with distorted vocals used as another instrument instead of taking focus.. Dryft, the Gridlock side-project.. Is more like an industrial DnB album, minus any cheesy samples... Pain Station's "Cold" album is a concept album.. But has many "intelligent" rhythms and textures to it.. But it's VERY disturbing. I have a review written here of that album: http://www.stas.net/tf2k/frameset2.html click on "reviews" and then "P" and then "Pain Station-Cold" Hope I've been of some help! Jared p.s. as an afterthought... i kind of try to blend the two a little bit.. if you're interested..
