lush'n'lovely analog electronica from the defocus folks (responsible for lackluster etc.). nothing necessarily strikingly new, but still hella nice. i listened to it every night before bed this week.

the new CD/LP's a bit of a departure for him - not the same chugging wash of the last CD, nor the harder tech edge of his 12"s. instead, it's a little more downtempo - not at all house tempo... but wonderful textures & a great album. also wanted to add on more recent recommendation: alex cortex's CD "laconic," on source - the most criminally underrated experimental-electronic label out there (the german source, not the french one) - is fantastic. deep-yet-minimal, nice mixture of digital & analog, glitch & samples. it varies between downtempo (though not in the trip-hop sense - just strictly tempo-wise) to tech-house a la chain reaction... really, for being so sparse & spacious, there's a ton of ideas packed in here. highly recommended for fans of IDM and minimal techno. phil --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
