For the record, on his Heavenly Social set (Live at the Social Vol. 3), Richard Fearless kicks off the mix with this track - what a goodie ! Errm, he's also got I-F's Space Invaders on there... In fact, of the double bill he does with Andrew Weatherall, Mr Fearless gets my vote (which surprised me, being a Weatherall fan of old. His set here disappoints. Maybe he was pandering to the Social masses?) Back to the Chicks, though. I'm quoting loosely from a review in Select, May 2000: "Debut album from Munich based American / German / Austrian trio." It goes on to say something about them being 30-somethings, "for rebellious 'adultescents' such as ATR's Alec Empire teen-flavoured petulance is the ideal vehicle for anti- corporate rage. Cicks on Speed are of a similar ilk." (cut) "Over clattering analogue sysnths and robot stutterings, COS's punkoid techno can be briefly thrilling and often distracting." They do a cover of B52's "Give me Back My Man" (hey, what's that like, anybody who's heard it ??) and these covers are said to 'outshine their own threadbare efforts'. They get a 3* rating out of 5. They also did a track on Plug Research's Voices in my Lunchbox comp: Chicks on Speed vs. Potuznik & Bauer 'Lisi, this is house Music'.
