I remember a few days back someone posted to this list saying their laptop had been nicked - well after last night I've got a sob story of my own.
I got a call from a friend inviting me to a party she was having in Farnborough. I thought I'd check that it didn't clash with the Warp lighthouse party - I looked in the bureau to find the tickets missing - turns out that they've been THROWN AWAY (not by me I might add). Not only have I lost 75 quid at a shot, but the two friends whose tickets were there are not happy, and a friend in Manchester who bought a ticket now looks like he'll be going alone.
Now if this was just one incident on its own I could put it down to dumb fucking luck - but this isn't the first time something like this has happened. Like a few people on this list, Autechre are probably my favorite band, but every time I try to go and see them, something happens. For example...
Versivo in Manchester - unable to find the venue - end up at the pub instead
Blue Note in Hoxton - queues going round the block, no way to get in - end up at the pub instead
Glastonbury earlier this year - cancelled? They were on the advert but no sign of them - end up very drunk instead
Glastonbury 98 - it rained solidly for 24 hours, my mates wanted to leave but I made them stick around, because autechre were on the next morning. A few hours before their set, some bright spark in a sewage truck decides to try and suck up the mud in the tent. He accidentally sents it to blow, and sprays the tent with shit. Unsurprisingly, autechre are cancelled - end up on a train home wearing only my socks, covered in mud and with borderline hypothermia.
Now I'm not a superstitious man, but this is getting a little spooky. I remember saying to a friend the other week, 'well, nothing's going to stop me seeing them this time'. Guess I spoke too soon.
This all goes without saying - if anyone is selling any tickets, not for silly money (yeah, right), I'd be more than willing to buy some. This might not be too much of a good idea though, If I get any more Autechre will probably be hit by an asteroid on the way to the venue or something.
To sum up then,
Bollocks.
