I know this is an unpopular thread, especially among those of you not from the good 'ol US of A, but this election is more important than you folks may think. The whole world seems to be moving toward economic socialism, and personal freedom is on the line. This is the first and last post I will write on the subject. If you are a US citizen, take the time to read this and check out the libertarian party online at www.lp.org Al Gore is a socialist, a liar, and likes to sell my country out to the highest bidder (like the Chinese) He also seems to think that HE is better equipped to spend MY money than I am. His plans on medicare and social security will move the USA more in the direction of Canada and the UK (big government controlled socialized programs) and will eventually result in higher taxes. George Bush has the Christian Coalition shoved up his ass. His tax cutting plan relies too much on a PROJECTED surplus. If his plan included massive cutting of governmental programs to facilitate a tax break, he'd be worth his salt. Nader is a tree hugging extremist (though I like him alot more than Gore because of the extent of his Character). And he lacks the personality and charisma needed to ever get elected. Buchanan is a loyal republican who was sent to destroy the Reform party from the inside. (And doing an excellent job) He is NOT a racist, he is a patriot. The media just does't like him. The only vote that will do a damn thing to change the eroding conditions of this country is a vote for the Libertarian Party.. ie, a vote for Harry Browne. Harry Browne will appear on the ballot in more states than any other minor party candidate. This includes Nader and Buchanan! Libertarians say this: *Government Doesn't work. It causes more problems than it solves. It's size must be dramatically reduced to the constraints as described in the constitution. With the exception of the retrenchment period after WW2, every president, Republican or Democrat, has left a government larger than the one he inherited. Government should be removed from every area not specified in the constitution: Education, regulation, crime control, welfare, housing , transportation, health care, agriculture....etc... * Eliminate the income tax. It is illegal and unconstitutional. * Get govermnent out of Social security. Sell trillions of dollars worth of uneeded federal assets and use the proceeds to purchase private retirement annuities for everyone dependent on SS now, so that your grandparents and parents would have guaranteed contracts for retirement. Then ELIMINATE the 15% SS tax, which is like throwing your money down a rathole. *Balance the budget by selling off federal assets, and use the proceeds to pay off the federal debt. ENTIRELY. AND FOREVER. * Eliminate the war on drugs. It is the greatest cause of violent crime in our country, and laws written to support the war on drugs are the greatest danger to your personal freedom. (The law that enables the govt. to sieze and auction off your car in NY when you are caught with a DWI (3 beers) is an offshoot of the property siezure law for drug dealers. Yes, they sieze and auction your car BEFORE you are found guilty / innocent by a trial of law! * Pull the United States Armed Forces out of everyone's business. Remove us from the entangling alliances that Thomas Jefferson warned us against. If we would stop sticking our noses in everybody else's business, we would no longer be hated by so many people across the globe, and there would be less concerns about terrorists attacking US targets. It is only a matter of time before a major terrorist attempt is successful on US soil. A vote for the Libertarian Party is a vote for FREEDOM, both financial and social. This list is full of free thinkers, people who don't follow the grain. This election affects you in more ways than you think.. Consider the current state of the nightllife in NYC. They are trying to close the nightclib "Twilo" because 2 people took E (or some other drug), entered the club and OD'd. Twilo didn't sell them the drugs, but the city is tring to close them down. What about all the antiquated zoning laws that make it so difficult to operate a bar / club in the NYC area? What about the Cabaret law? I feel like I've been transformed onto the set of "Footloose" Yesterday Sullfolk County (Long Island) passed a law that prohibits you from talking on your cell phone while you drive! WE ARE BEING OVER GOVERNED. It affects all types of artistic expression, inlcuding IDM. GOTO: www.pl.org and find out. I promise never to mention this again. --Chris --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
