Photek : I think the albums art should give us an idea of what he was trying
to do. The blue sea and sky and all that. Strangely, on Monday I heard one
of those vocal tracks in Virgin (before I bought it) and thought it was some
late summer Ibiza come down anthem I'd missed ;)
He's got a lot of good ideas and the programming is top notch, but the more
I listen, the more I get the impression he just ran out of steam. What's
with the dodgy fade out on "Solaris"? I like it never the less. Also get the
impression Rupert has been listening to an awful lot of house.
Xen Cuts is cool, but as I buy most of Ninja's output, I feel a bit cheated
;) But it's still worth it at the price.
Jamie Lidell's album is - well, wierd. Really wierd. I don't know what to
make of it.

I just managed to spend 60 quid on vinyl the other day - probably not =
wise, but at least I've got loads of music to show for it.
One thing I picked up was a prefuse 73 EP on Warp - This is amazing - =
strange cut up melodic electronic hip hop would be the best description. =
I haven't seen anything about this on their website - are prefuse 73 =
something to do with Schematic? I've heard a fair amount of schematic =
stuff but nothing really blew me away until this release.
The new Leila albums really good as well, but as for the new Photek - well =
- I had really high expectations for this. Modus Operandi is one of my =
all time favourites, but this is just...OK. Some good tracks, but the =
ones with the cheesy house bloke singing? Horrible.
np - Xen Cuts (the vinyl box set really is a thing of beauty)
