The FlyLo billboard is in Hollywood right by Ameba Records. It's strange to
see him get exposure like this but its also about time too. I'm still
coming down after the Low End Theory Festival he headlined last month here
in LA.
Until recently I'd always compartmentalized the LA beat scene (which is
dear to my native Angeleno heart) as wholly separate from IDM. Then I read
something saying that the LA beat scene is basically IDM just based off
hip-hop, R&B, and jazz instead of techno, ambient, and acid. Made perfect
sense to me.
