Yes OS9 is not a really good solution for musicians. Considering that OS 8 or 8.6 are far more stable and have all the features needed by most of the audio applications, I don't think he needs OS 9... But if he bought his Powerbook recently, perhaps he can't go back to an older system. And that's another problem...
