guitar center has been offering a deal on a portable sony MD recorder/player bundled with a stereo microphone for $199 ... naturally when i went to pick mine up they were out, and of course they had the two items sold separately for $179(player) and $89(microphone)... talk about bait and switch. my buddy got one though and it is very nice, the MD recorder also has an optical input so if you have a sony CD player with optical output, you can do direct digital transfers. they also have a slightly more fancy MD Walkman for about $250 MSRP with a USB interface so you can dump to/from your 'puter. anyway i'm waiting for the Ruitard Center to get more of the $199 bundle in but I will be purchasing one. the sound quality is very good despite the lossy data compression. sounds much better than MP3 for sure. later josh -- String Theory : Digital Music for Humans http://www.enteract.com/~yoshi/index.cgi On Fri, 15 Sep 2000 suction@home.com wrote:

MD is nice for recording anything [Vinyl, CD, Mp3s... whatever] -- especially if you just wanna throw on one track at a time... i don't have a portable MD recorder, so i never looked at prices for them... but i'm sure you can probably dig one up for less than 475. > > later > > Edwin Wong > [suction@home.com] >
