I currently use an AMD k62-450 motherboard in an AT case. I use a hoontech
soundcard expansion with a yamaha soundcard. This cheap ($70-ish) combo
gives me full digital and optical I/O. (I forget the exact model # of the
yamaha, check the hoontech web site, I ordered both together)
Right now I have an idea for putting a higher end athelon into a rackmount
ATX case. If I get really ambitious, I'll think about adding an LCD
touchscreen and tray for the keyboard, but LCD touchscreens aren't exactly
cheap.
It will be rather pricey - but I just don't like putting money into a
laptop, as they are typically expensive, unexpandable, and delicate,
especially for live/gig use.
