You can only EASILY get away with something "crappy" if the audience is a
bunch of dummies. "Experimental stuff" is NOT the same as other sounds. It
requires a thought and effort to begin to understand . Not that experimental
can't be good to just listen to, haven't you heard the latest betabodega
coalition comp or some of Fals.ch label? And who can ever say they don't
like Raymond Scott? or Pierre Henry? I suppose someone could, but I don't
think it would be because they were in the realm of talent of a Britney
Spears- and Raymond Scott was amazingly prolific! By the by, a LOT of EVERY
genre is not that great, or haven't you noticed? That is no reason to
exclude a genre from your listening.

Well....it´s not that I have a problem with experimental stuff, it´s just
that a lot of it is not that great. You can easily to get away with
something crappy if you call it avant-garde. And I think it would be quite
boring if everyone in the electronic music scene (or whatever you should
call it..) started making music which only consists of noise and glitches.
On the other hand, a band like DAT Politics shows that you can have the best
of two worlds: weirdo noise AND silly melodies.
